Purist 909 kick drum I’ve found yet…

The BDX 909 is an absolute weapon for hardcore. Forget drumazon this bad boy captures what so many plugins miss, authentic low-end that’s perfect for early hardcore, gabber and hard techno. So simple to use but has that unmistakable analogue weight straight out of the box—exactly what I’ve been looking for.

This kick plugin deserves worldwide fame, I tell ya!

This 909 kick plugin sounds so good. I'm testing it in the Mike Dean room on the new VSX 5 software and headphones. Just killer.

I loaded up my other kick tools - the only one I could get close is D16’s PunchBox. I thought Drumazon would be closest but I couldn't get it anywhere near close which was really weird considering it’s probably the best known 909 plugin emulation. I couldn't round it out like the BDX and it was too clicky. There’s some great 909 samples out there too of course but then you don’t get to tweak like with this synthesized kick. Yes, I love the BDX-909!

Excellent VST Tool !

The BDX-909 is an excellent emulator of the iconic TR-909 kick drum, and it delivers on every level. I compared it directly with the original TR-909, and the results are impressively close, the punch, warmth, and weight are all there. It captures that classic sound while also giving you modern flexibility.

What really sets it apart are the features and automation options. Unlike the hardware, you can dive deep into shaping the kick, automate parameters, and push it into completely new territories. From deep, booming subs to tight, punchy kicks, the range is fantastic and versatile across genres like techno, house, hardcore, and more.

For producers, this is not just an emulator, it’s a creative instrument. The workflow is smooth, the interface is intuitive, and it offers the best of both worlds:
the authenticity of the original and the convenience of software.

Verdict: A very good emulator with powerful features and automation. After comparing it with the TR-909, I can say it’s an outstanding tool for serious music production.
